Testing a new grammar site: these are quizzes from a Routledge grammar textbook which are apparently available without logging in, signing up, etc., they should keep us going for a couple of months. There is no direct link to each individual quiz (as far as I can tell), so for today, click on CHAPTER 1. (Or don't, you know, I'm not the boss of you.) Let me know if we should keep using these or if you'd rather do something else!

I did better on the quiz than I thought I would, knowing a few and making educated guesses on some others. I got #7 wrong, I don't think I've seen that for writing a letter before.

There are definitely some unfamiliar ones in there, but it's fun!

The quiz was very fun! I miss the explanations in the previous site haha but it makes sense for this comm since we should be at the point where we've learned all the grammar already and can be properly quizzed on a mix of sentence structures. :P

That's a good point, and there's always the option of looking the points up elsewhere while doing the quiz!

The grammar quiz was fun. There were some unfamiliar constructions (or ones I'd forgotten) so it was good practice.

Agree! Not sure how all these things come together, but the unexpectedness is also good.

The quiz site is great! I only got one wrong (though I can't remember which it was), but I had to think about a few of them.

(I would have liked an explanation, maybe then I'd remember what I got wrong, LOL. But it's nice just seeing what I can get right on my own.)

Wow I did terribly on that quiz. I wish it gave you explanations for why something is wrong/right - f'r instance, when comparing two things (didi, meimei) aren't you supposed to use bi? Wo didi bi meimei hen da? (Sorry, too lazy to actually type characters today.)

I think--although don't quote me as gospel--that 比 is fine, but you don't use 很 in comparisons, so you'd say either 我弟弟比妹妹大 or 我弟弟比妹妹更大, but not 很大.
