Some quick googling turned up this from quora.com:

Changsha dialect “长沙话 (zhǎngshā huà)” is a dialect of New Xiang Chinese. It is spoken predominantly in Changsha, the capital of Hunan province. It is not mutually intelligible with Standard Mandarin, which is the official language of China.

“湘语 (Xiāng yǔ) Xiang Chinese” is the biggest native language to Hunan province, and it is also a group of Chinese dialects spoken in most parts of Hunan and in a few adjacent areas. In addition to Xiang Chinese, there are also some other Chinese varieties and some non-Chinese native languages, spoken in many places of Hunan province.

Found that Britannica.com has an entry for Xiang language, which is divided by Old Xiang and New Xiang. It says that New Xiang language is heavily influenced by Mandarin.

Thank you for looking into it! I'm always curious about different dialects and whether they're still widely spoken. (I was looking into Shanghainese a bit while watching War of Faith, and it sounds like the number of speakers has been pretty sharply declining and most people in Shanghai don't speak it at home anymore. But I guess Shanghai has probably had a greater influx of non-natives making it necessary for everyone to be able to communicate in Mandarin...)
