In fairness to LTR, these were 2 separate lines of subtitles:

and maybe there would be a comma between them (acting as a conjunction shorthand?) if written in a text? (The lack of punctuation in Chinese subtitles is my arch-nemesis.)

Ah, that makes sense. yeah, putting the Guardian script together with names of speakers is an endless effort to put punctuation in (I can see why they don't use it in the subtitles, but still...).
