I clicked on the Wiki article and was so confused about the lack of 不过. XD I see now that there's a link at the bottom that offers 不过 as a "softer" alternative, but it's odd to me that they'd put it off on a separate page, since as far as I've noticed, I would have thought it was at least as common as the other two...

That's a good point! Maybe because 但是 and 可是 both have 是 in them (and can be shortened to omit it), so it's easy to memorize them as a set?
