I just have a few more words: 任重道远 (a saying which is kind of depressing but to the point), 马尾巴 (ponytail, just like it looks like), 吃光了 (which just means "finished eating," but the idea that the food disappeared into light amuses me), and three kinds of ice cream: 冰淇淋, ordinary ice cream; 霜淇淋, soft cream/frozen yogurt; 刨冰 (or 剉冰 which I can't type), shaved ice.

Q: 请用“果然”造句。

A: 我吃了水果，然后泻肚子。

lol, maybe I will now be able to remember which one 果然 is (吃了水果，果然然后泻肚子？）. There are too many 然 words, 虽然 is okay because it comes with 但是 and 突然 is like Japanese plus 突然好想你, but 果然 ， 既然，居然...

果然=やっぱり quite neatly to me, but the rest aren't as cleanly sortable, and the almost-synonyms (突然/忽然, 居然/竟然, and whatever else I'm forgetting) do Not help. 虽然 I am sure they are 仍然 very interesting to the linguistic audience…

I'm pretty sure every time either of these words comes up in my flashcards, I think, "This is the one that means 'unexpectedly,' right? Or is that the other one? I always get them mixed up..." and then I turn the card over and go "Oh good, I was right, it's this one." I have never actually realized they're the same!

This... actually simplifies things for me. XD

oh thanks, I forgot about 竟然... and I never saw 仍然 before, now I know. 中文乱用这个然, which is only a joke if 乱 gets the Japanese reading and 然 the Chinese one...

The dictionary offered 案の定 for 果然, which as you says slots in pretty neatly, and with the fruit sentence may even be rememberable!

Oh they're adorable, and they sing so well, terrific pitch. (Although the ex-chorus singer in me is saying "open your mouths wider on the vowels!" I wonder if that's a function of Chinese pronunciation or just their style as a choir. Either way it's lovely.)
