No idea how to express this in Chinese, but: *HUGS*

ETA: And I meant to say this yesterday but forgot - one disadvantage of reading Chinese text in a website layout optimised for Latin characters is font sizes. At my standard font size, some characters just turn into unreadable blobs, and 离 is one of them. I wonder if there's a way to increase font size for Chinese characters only ...

祝你早日康复! 健康第一~

(Also, more Guardian language squiggles, this time on the 上古秘闻录 ancient text with Kunlun… archaic language, why)

I have the same problem with the font sizes, and your comment made me wonder if maybe there was a browser extension that could do something about it. I found this Chrome extension that's supposed to enlarge the font of any text in Chinese (or whatever language you choose). I've installed it, though, and it's not quite doing what it's supposed to... for one thing, I can't get it to work automatically, I have to click on the extension on every page where I want the Chinese font enlarged. For another thing, it doesn't just enlarge the Chinese text, but all the text in any field where there is Chinese text (so e.g. on my DW friends feed, it enlarges all the text in the guardian_learning posts, both Chinese and English, though luckily it at least doesn't enlarge the text in my other friends' posts that don't contain any Chinese text).

I might end up keeping it anyway, because it does work pretty well to make the Chinese font big enough to read, even if it's not as good as it promises to be...

Ha, glad it's not just me with the font size problem!

I googled around a bit and came across hints that it should be possible to achieve with a userscript, but haven't found one that actually does it. Thanks for searching as well! Yeah, I tried that extension, too, and as you say - it enlarges the Latin characters as well, unfortunately. It's not vastly more useful than zooming in and out, IMO. Unfortunately! Seriously, this feels like it should be a more common problem with a readily available solution!

No promises, but I may have figured out something in Tampermonkey for this – still needs a fair bit of testing on my end first (hacking this together since my JavaScript knowledge is literally 0 lol), but let me know if either of you are willing to guinea pig afterwards. Partly since I don't think I see the same problem y'all do; all my text is legible-sized?

(On the other hand, I have learned how to make all characters display either simple or traditional via user style, if that'll ever come in handy…)

Oh, wow, really? That would be fantastic! I'm so impressed that you not only tried to tackle this, but actually got somewhere with it so quickly. And yes, I'd absolutely love to test this! ♥ ♥ ♥

Maybe you like your (Latin) fonts larger than we do ours? Or maybe it's some esoteric interaction between font size settings, screen resolution and monitor, who knows ...

And as sfor switching between simple and traditional via user style, that would be awesome to have, too! You're amazing. :D

Oh, that's awesome! I'd be happy to guinea pig as well. :D

Looking at all our journals, I think DW journal styles are somewhat to blame here -- I can read Chinese text on your journal and [personal profile] nnozomi's just fine, but the same text on my journal and [personal profile] trobadora's is hard for me to read (and I think she and I both have the same font size and style). My screen is big enough that the Chinese text isn't really illegible, but some characters with a lot of strokes can be hard to make out.

I have learned how to make all characters display either simple or traditional via user style

Oh man, dare I ask? XD It would make everything so much easier to read! But then again I really should keep trying to learn some simplified characters, and I can't think of any better place or way to do it than here...
