the "main" action usually comes second in English (after the "while"), but first in Chinese. For example, "take a shower while singing" sounds strange in English, but "sing while taking a shower" doesn't.

Oh, huh! I've never thought about this, even in English usage, and definitely didn't think about what order to put the actions in Chinese. Good to know.

Probably worth noting that the 一 is sometimes dropped, especially with short verbs (会议快要开始了，我们边走边谈吧), but essentially it's the same thing.

Also, I see 常 and all I can think of is my eternal meltdown over 非常口 (my two braincells truly 一边 "haha that is Very a door indeed" 一边 "…oh yeah emergency exit")
