I've just learnt the seasons in Chinese because I've just learnt the seasons in Sino-Korean. In 3 years of Korean, I had only encountered the seasons in Native Korean. Today, I saw a compound word that meant "[sth] Olympics", which expectedly turned out to be "Summer Olympics", and then I looked up the other 3 seasons.

Yes. I'm at B2 level, so most sentences still lead to new words, but sometimes there are some words where I'm like: hum, weird that it's my first time encountering them (of course, sometimes they've been encountered, then forgotten, lol).

What I enjoy is that the more words you know, the more potential connections you have, so new words actually become easier to remember--"oh yeah, that has the same root as X that I learned last year, this one uses the same character as Y that I learned last month" and so on :)

Yes, definitely, especially for Sino-Korean words. I once encountered aeguksim, which I didn't know, and thought love-country-heart --> patriotism. Lo and behold, it meant patriotism. \o/
