In fact, nnozomi's practice sentence is the first time I've seen "lightbulb" in its straight meaning and not as "third wheel". cnovels have more third wheels than lightbulbs, I think. :DD

I have a long-running argument with every Japanese person I know about whether "pear-shaped" means, you know, lightbulb-shaped, or round like an apple. "pear" does not mean the same thing to us...

Hmm, I think it's less that I've never thought about it and more that the meaning is divorced in my head during actual usage? It's like Windows computers. I know that windows means Fenster and I've definitely thought 'hey weird, why did they name it that' in the past, but generally when I'm thinking about computer Windows then the meaning doesn't connect to the Fenster meaning; it's just a name.

... I'm not sure I'm explaining it very well 😅
