/flailing digression

Zhou Shen's rendition sounds amazing -- I mean, obviously, he does difficult vocal stuff all the time and that's kind of his whole thing, so this is a trivial comment, but still, George Lam's style is so different from what I'm used to hearing from Zhou Shen, it really does surprise me that he's got the range to do this kind of performance as well. Also damn, his Cantonese sounds, like, perfect as far as I can tell. I don't know if a native speaker would agree, but I feel like I can usually recognize when someone has a Mandarin accent, and I'm not noticing it at all here. Extra impressive on top of the vocals!

Thank you for the B站 link! That must have been AMAZING to hear live, the energy is fantastic. I'll look up more George Lam!
Doesn't surprise me that Zhou Shen can pull off both the song and the Cantonese, "can do anything you throw at him and make it look easy" seems to be his brand ;)

Hah, in retrospect that was a very superfluous link, I was just excited about recognizing the song and finding proof of where I knew it from! You might get a kick out of his 数字人生 (link goes to a live duet with Hu Xia) which is also high-energy (after the intro) and has lyrics that are mostly numbers... one way to make the most of the musicality of tones! ;D
