上班辛苦了！谢谢啊，多亏你的评论我查了用中文的yawn,似乎是（打）哈欠吧。。。查一查，我才发现日语的欠伸（あくび）也有欠的字，为什么呀。

…so I went to Baidu this, because of course I did, and apparently 打呵欠-ing is the original meaning of 欠 (象形 pictogram of a kneeling person with mouth open, per Wiktionary). The "lack of ~" meanings were then derived because yawning happens when one is low on energy… though I think it's the most commonly used meaning in both JP and CN now LOL

Agree! Also one that doesn't have half a dozen caveats...at least not until we get into more complicated times lol.
