May update: postscript
May. 17th, 2020 02:58 pmThe vocabulary list mentioned in the previous entry has (I think) become an Anki deck? Very basic and a bit awkward to look at but it's a start; based more or less on tinny's template, but not very well done on my part. If interested, please download "Guardian2.apkg" here. Let me know if any issues. Take care, all.

Date: 2020-08-28 12:20 pm (UTC)I found that the ccs card styles were missing some of the classes. I might have sent you the wrong template? /o\
Here's what I think needs to be added in the "Styling" tab:
.chinese { font-size: 30px } .tags {color:gray;text-align:right;font-size:10pt;} .note {color:gray;font-size:12pt;margin-top:20pt;} .pinyin {font-size:22pt;} .english {font-size:22pt;}Also, the Hanzi field seems to be displayed twice on the front of the card. (Which is not a problem, I guess?). You have to delete the last line in the "Front" tab.
I still haven't gotten around to checking the vocab list, either.

You have to add this line to the "Front" of the card:
{{tts zh_CN:Hanzi}}
Hanzi is the name of the Chinese vocab field in our card template. If you're using another template, you have to change that.
This is awesome, because now you can listen to the vocab without blowing up the deck with audio files.
I am not sure it will work on every OS, and it might also depend on whether you've installed the Chinese language pack (or whatever it's called). But it works on my Windows. (I have the Chinese language pack installed as an additional language.)

Date: 2020-08-29 02:48 pm (UTC)I noticed that the text to speech doesn't work on my tablet (using Ankidroid), but I'll research that some more. Android definitely has text to speech, so maybe it's just that the language is missing.
Yay, I hope you find the song lyrics deck useful! <3 I was lazy and used my own card template for it, it has an extra field for German (although I think it's mostly empty). I hope that's not too weird.
Would you mind if I made a proper post about that deck to this comm?

Date: 2020-08-30 12:09 am (UTC)That would be great, please feel free! I think you should have the access to do it, but if not let me know.

Date: 2020-08-30 07:58 am (UTC)Yes, I could post, but I couldn't add tags.
The comm has few enough posts not to need tags, but if you feel like coming up with some kind of tag structure anyway, you could?
I would have tagged it "anki deck" or something. I thought the posts with the decks might be relevant for people browsing the comm later.

Date: 2020-09-04 04:21 pm (UTC)You have to surround the Hanzi field with the tts tag:
{{hanzi_silhouette:Hanzi}}
And then you have to click the text-to-speech option in the configuration of Ankidroid as described here:
https://docs.ankidroid.org/manual.html#_advanced
I also added those tags to the Guardian pack and uploaded it here. You can just replace yours with this one. (I did not go through the vocab and check those yet, though.)

Date: 2020-09-05 09:13 am (UTC)I realized today that I had forgotten something, though.
a) maybe you don't want the vocab immediately read when you open it, so I moved the tts to the back of the card
b) ankidroid is stupid and will read *the whole card*, (including description and translation /o\) in a Chinese voice if you don't have a tts tag on one side of the card.
So I fixed that! I just updated the packs on my mediafire. The Guardian link is new, the Song Lyrics link is the same:
