Measure word 几(个) for relatively small quantities of things
https://resources.allsetlearning.com/chinese/grammar/Measure_words_in_quantity_questions

几个 or 几(all the other six zillion counters, some of which make more sense than others)

Guardian:
几点了? what time is it? (Zhao Yunlan asks this quite often, but all the other Guardian 几 I can find are "some ~" rather than questions.)

My practice:
你到底有几双鞋子?
为了这个工作需要几个人?
这个动物园有几只水豚? (had to look that one up)

Guardian example from episode 1 - at least if I'm reading it correctly, the first 几 is "some" but the second should be "how many":

SW: 地星人偷上地面作乱,是本使疏忽。

ZYL: 哪里话? 您这是想让我们几个长长见识,毕竟在这个世上能见到几个地星人啊?

Zhao Yunlan is SO rude in that scene! He's really lucky Shen Wei already likes him, LOL.

猜一猜,周深去年出了几首新歌?

(答:47首)(哇噻)

Anyway I feel like there's no real difference between this and using it in statements – it's kinda the rest of the sentence that makes it a question anyway, the 几 phrase itself is the same.

And just to point out something that isn't apparent coming from an English perspective: 几 is (as illustrated by Zhao Yunlan above) also used in asking about dates and times, i.e. 几月几日 etc.
