In Cantonese it actually is 几多号! I always forget it's 多少 in Mandarin.

Ooooh now that you mention it I think I might have heard kui ho (几号) in Hokkien which might explain my vibes-based instincts, and it’s cool that at least one language does that so it’s not too far-fetched. Not 100% sure I’ve heard siami ho (什么号) but it feels correct somehow. 😂 EDIT: I just asked a speaker and they said they would NOT say 什么 so I did totally make that up in my head, my vibe check can’t be trusted 😂

But considering that 多少 and 几多 mean the same, the correct Mandarin construction totally makes sense and might be easier to remember. 😂 Yay for grammar tidbits I can actually apply in real life (if I don’t mix them up haha). 💪

That makes sense, I seem to keep hearing about things that are similar in Cantonese and Hokkien! It's always interesting to see how different Chinese languages partially overlap each other. :D
