Good news for brain: after a moderate amount of picking mine up and shaking it, I now recall the existence of 令尊 / 令堂 as terms to respectfully address the other person's father / mother, which suggests similar 令～ constructions may exist for other family members too?

…………and now I am also consciously noticing that 令 is rendering in (what I think of as) the Japanese character instead of the Chinese one with マ at the bottom……

半夜！ I can never remember whether it's "half the night" or "midnight." Maybe that quotation will help...

iQiyi translated 半夜 as "in the middle of the night," which I feel is sort of both "half the night" and "midnight." *confused, woozy smile*

Perfect icon lol, oh dear. "half the night through" might be a good way to think of it...

I think it's fairly safe to assume 半夜 = around midnight (or more generally "ungodly late hours"), with the exception of maybe 前半夜 / 后半夜 for either half of the night. 半个晚上 also works for a non-specific half of the night.
